Installing PHP

I am trying to install php onto my computer but i don’t know where in MySQL to extract it too. In program files or MySQL data files?

@MindzaiApr 12.2009 — Sounds like you are using Windows and (no offense intended) are new to this sort of thing. In that case I would recommend you look at XAMPP for Windows. It is an easy way to install PHP/MySQL etc under Windows.

@adambradlerauthorApr 12.2009 — i will chechk this out and yes i am using windows, But i'm not such a noob that i can't understand all this computer bull. The only thing i'm a noob to is the language. i already have MySQL installed on my computer i just read somewhere that you have to put php into the proper part of mySQL. I don't want to screw this up hence i am here. I don't want to use some noob program that sucks cause its made for begginers. I want to learn the way its supposed to be done.

@adambradlerauthorApr 12.2009 — so ive downloaded xampp except the problem is i can run apche fine but now i'm getting and error message for mySQL it reads: MySQL service not started (-1). What in the world does this mean??? It seems that everything i try has a problem

I'm just wondering am i supposed to delete all the existing files out of the httpdoc folder or will it be fine with everything in there including my stuff?? will any of it interfere with anything that i put int here?

@NogDogApr 12.2009 — Files in the httpdoc folder should not matter -- it is simply the top of the document directory where you want your HTTP-accessible files.
