Create a Stylish Select/List Menu using CSS

I’m so sorry if my question just a simple one to solve but i really curious about this problem. i used to use css like

[code=html].textbox{
font-family:”Trebuchet MS”;
font-size:11px;
color:#5D87BE;
border:1px solid #CCCCCC;
}[/code]

and use this in my submit form, but this only works for text, textarea and button but never work for the list menu (<select></select>). anyone could tell me how to make a stylish list menu and of course cross browser ?
