Div/layer attached to cursor

I presently have a floating layer (div) (javascript) in our site designed in Dreamweaver. The layer moves as you scroll down the page. It’s ok, but I would really like the layer to be attached to the cursor/pointer, so that when you place your mouse on a photo, the layer appears next to the cursor with the information about the item in the photo. The users don’t like to have to look somewhere else to see the information. Picky little buggers.

I have javascript code for an element that will do this very nicely, but the element div doesn’t allow the text formatting that you can have in a layer. The element div will not even let me put a line break in.

Anybody out there know where to find coding for a floating layer that moves with the cursor?
