There’s this article some webmasters may find useful. It shows various alternatives as to how you don’t have to always depend on Google as your sole source of income , webtraffic and other services they provide.

There will always be an alternative that you can choose to that won’t force you to follow certain rules you don’t agree with such as buying textlinkads etc.
