interesting situation

I have this cool idea to take input from the browser’s scrollbars and pass that info to something on my site. Is that possible?

I’d like to have the scrollbars, for example, move an image across the screen. Picture a web etch-a-sketch, with the scrollbars acting as knobs.

My friend said it may take some Javascript.
I’m brand new to web design, but I know a little java (so I’ve programmed a little) and hopefully if you point me in the right direction I can figure it out.

I guess another alternative would be to eliminate the browser’s scrollbars, and create my own. A few days ago someone posted about basically making a flash “fader” to control the volume of a media player – maybe his issue could be addressed here as well.

Thanks a ton bros (and sisters)
