any way to get remote page title, meta but without fopen

hi everyone
is there any way to get remote page title, meta but without fopen, it takes a looooong time and for some site it doesn’t even work with slow servers, a member here told me to use curl, I searched and I couldn’t find anyone possible..

@NogDogFeb 22.2009 — The title and meta tags are all part of the HTML output, so there is no way to only retrieve them without the rest of the page output -- it's all part of the same HTTP request no matter which method you use to access it.
