Java Script Page But Excel Database?

Hi,

This may be a stupid question but I was wondering if someone could help me out. What I am wanting to do is create a basic web page using html, css and javascript. But what I want to know is there a way I can save information that is entered into that webpage. Normally I guess you would have a data base like SQL etc to store data and then use scripts to save information to the database and retrive it. What I want to know is, is there a way to use Javascript to use Excel as a database to save and retrive data entered into the webpage? If so any assistance on how this can be done? Thanks.

@slaughtersJan 21.2009 — You can not use JavaScript by itself to write to a database or to a file. To do that you need to have a server side language such as PHP, ASP, JSP, etc..

Doesn't that only work for the local hard drive, not the server ?

if the server is on a folder path, it will work like a local file.

if it's http only, you will probably need some other microsoft product to assist.
