does anyone just use webmail instead of outlook express ?

If anyone’s seen my previous posts then they’ll be aware that I’m pretty useless when it comes to computers, but having had a few new pc’s (and some that had to be formatted) I’ve become sick of losing stored mails and having to keep setting up outlook express to collect my mail.
I find that my iphone is better at displaying the mails on webmail (some fail to be downloaded or displayed on the phones email software) and am considering ditching outlook express altogether then I’ll access my mails on all computers in the same way.
To be fair, I don’t actually get any mails which I need to have any functions more than what googlemails webmail can provide
Would it seem logical for me to go to ‘just’ webmail ?

@WattsJan 12.2009 — FWIW, I use webmail only for my personal accounts (my domain, yahoo, gmail, etc.), but use Outlook at work for business accts.

@Major_PayneJan 13.2009 — If you are using the more popular email sites like gmail with 7GB of mail storage, then your email will always be archived unless you've set options otherwise. Outlook/Outlook Express has to be set to get your mail and leave a copy on the server. Gmail and similar also have options to be set.

If you don't care about your local mail program being a little slow, then change your email storage folder to an external drive, either a Flash or backup type. Then you'll never lose any for sure although copies should still be online. Waste of time using Web Mail when you can be doing other things while your local mail program gets mail from all the online accounts except those that prevent it from free accounts (Yahoo and Hotmail come to mind).
