Please don’t call me stupid

I have major problems with something very simple I am sure…To start I am trying and have been trying for 2 days now to learn how to make that falling matrix effect for a background. Problem 1: I know nothing about java script and very little about html. I have been to a couple of sites that tell me to do this and to do that, and I do but nothing…I have NO Idea how to even run a script program or even create one. I can do a little html but very little, still learning. If someone could help me I would apreciate it much, even if you could point me in the right direction would be helpful.

I apologize if this is not the proper thread for this question, I am not to good with navigating these forums.

Thankyou in advance for any help…

Your friend,

@dtm32236Jan 12.2009 — As far as I know, you can't make the background of a site animated, unless you use flash to create the site.

In any case, this would require knowledge of Photoshop, Flash or other animating programs of the sort.

I'm not sure if you can accomplish this with a script.

Either way, it seems like you're looking to do something that is beyond your capabilities at the time. I would look into how to do this, and start trying to further your skills with the required applications (Flash, for example). There's a TON of free tutorials you can find online, for any application or [programming] language.

@Leo_DragonheartauthorJan 12.2009 — Thanx dtm32236, I thank you for the info but since I posted this I have already got it running and up in script...I just had to find the right stuff...I can't learn through books and that junk, I have to find the code then take it apart and put it back togeather. Reading page after page of stuff to learn how to do it bores me I have to be a hands on guy. You are correct it is way out of my league, but so was it for everyone at one point... I do than you for the response though at least you took time to read the thead.... Thanx again and peace...

P.S. I will look into some tutorials if you know some I could check... you can post them here or send them to (e-mail removed by WebJoel: personal contact not permitted for security reasons. Remit via forum, or take to PMessaging, please)

@Major_PayneJan 13.2009 — Might put a link to script code you use in case others following this thread want a solution or to try it out. You could have made an animated image of the Matrix effect and used it as a background on your page. No problem with using animated GIFs/PNGs as backgrounds that I've found.

@TheTeenScripterJan 13.2009 — I didn't know png's could be animated?

@Major_PayneJan 13.2009 — Sorry. Meant to type TIFF and transparent PNGs. MNG is an extension to PNG that does support animation which was designed by members of the PNG Group.

@TheTeenScripterJan 13.2009 — awesome... but how would the loading times be on a decent size one lol

@Major_PayneJan 13.2009 — No worse, I imagine, than a complete site made with Flash. ?
