Learning java?

I’m interested in learning java. Purpose would be to improve the functionality of my website via java applets – i.e. file upload applets, etc. My programming knowledge is in php,mysql and javascript. Keeping in mind my goal and programming background, what are the recommended books, online tutorials, etc.? Thanks.

java.sun.com actually has really good tutorials on learning Java.
