Javascript file MD5 hash validation routine needed

Hello I am running a website with Exponent and I need some help.

I need to know if there’s ANY method to do the following (can be in any of the following scripting languages: Javascript (recommended), PHP):

I am making available on the site files to download. However for security I would like to use MD5 checksums on all files I make available for download. What I would like is a Javascript that does one of the following:

*Gets an MD5 hash from a specified file and checks it against a specified MD5 hash (such as in a variable)
*Returns to the php page an Md5 hash for a specified file.
