[RESOLVED] CSS Font Issue – Always Bold???

Hi CSS Pros….

This has been driving me crazy for the last few days and I need help.

For some reason the default body font for this site I’m working on is showing up bold and distorted on multiple computers. Not all computers though…I actually looks fine on my computer.

Here is how I am setting up the fonts:
* {padding: 0; margin: 0; border: none; line-height: normal; letter-spacing: normal; font-family: arial;}
body {font-size: 62.5%; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;}
#interior_content p {font-size: 1.5em; letter-spacing: 1px; padding: 0 0 20px 38px; width: 580px; float: left; line-height: 1.5em; font-weight: normal;}
Could you guys take a look and let me know if the main body text looks bold and distorted for you as well? For me the fonts are much clearer and thin.

Here is a screenshot from the client:

Thanks so much for you help!!

@FangDec 19.2008 — Your client's text is bolder than 'normal'. It could due to his monitor settings.

Try setting the base font in px rather than %, then other sizes in em as you have done.

@joseph_liuauthorDec 19.2008 — Thanks for the tip Fang.

I set the base font size to 10px and they are still seeing the same issue.

Is there something wrong with using #FFF color text on a dark background?? I thought that might have something to do with it...

Any other thoughts?

Thanks!

@KorDec 19.2008 — I suspect your client has set his browser in a certain accessibility mode. It is also possible for him to have changed his display to a high contrast mode. Or maybe he has an out-of-order display/browser. Tell the client that it is not important how he sees the document, it is important how the large majority of the users sees it.

@FangDec 19.2008 — Other less likely causes; an old version of Opera or the browser has overridden the font-face.

Have a great weekend!
