When I use target=”_blank within an anchor tag, Firefox opens in a new tab but Internet Explorer opens a new page. Is there any way I can get I E to open a new tab?

After all, if you went to the trouble to make sure that your browser opens everything in tabs, why should authors be able to open everything in windows, overriding your preference?
In short, if a user has the preference set, things will open in tabs in IE, though I think IE-7's support for the "always open in tabs" feature isn't nearly as reliable as that of Firefox (I've had things open in new windows when I specifically said to open in tabs - that is IE's fault, not mine and not the author's).
