Converting my VB Application to .NET

Hey all. It is great to sign up for the first time on the Forum. I am excited to begin my journey to learn Web Development. I have had lots of experience with C+, ORACLE, MYSQL, VB, VBA, Java, some PHP.

I have been building my applications in VB Studio 6.0 and am now looking to convert some of them to Web-based applications. Most of them are your typical stand-alone VB coded GUI with a MS Access or SQL Express backend database.

I have Visual Studio .Net 2008

Should I develop my new websites with 2008 “ASP.NET Web Application” I see that PHP is still very popular. If I convert my VB to VB.NET is that easier for me to complete the web-based conversion?

Any and all thoughts are greatly appreciated.

@drhowarddrfineNov 16.2008 — Since you already know vb and php, why are you wanting to change to anything else? Both of those are more used than any other .net stuff according to tiobe and other sources.
