Please help – can this be done easily with JS?

On this website I’m supposed to be working on, our members can login and pay dues. I would like the website to know if they are logged in or not in certain places. For instance, if I put a link to the dues payment page, I want the website to take members there if they are logged in. If they aren’t logged in, I want the website to take them to the login page, THEN take them to the dues payment area. A kind of if, then type deal – except it would be if, then; if not, then, then.

Thank you for any help you can give me. I don’t know how to write javascript and I just need to know what to look for in case there is a free javascript out there that can do this for me. And if this can’t be done easily with javascript, what’s the best way to go about doing something like this?

Thanks, everyone!

@Declan1991Nov 06.2008 — Would have to be server side. You can look into PHP, ASP, Perl among others. You'll have to see what's available on your server.
