Javascript variables into an XML and viceversa

Greetings to everybody,

My question is quite simple: would it be possible to print Javascript generated variables into a pre-composited XML file? I suppose that’s possible, if not easy, at least with a few work-arounds.
But then, would it be possible to read those variables stored in the XML file and parse them back so that you can continue working with those variables seamlessly?
Would it be possible to implement this in conjunction with a “Load” or “File select” input so that the user can use a file he had stored in his own hard drive?

Any light on this will be greatly appreciated,
Thanks in advance,

M. L.
