How to go about building a web portfolio?

Hi,

I’m a web database developer and would like to set up my own web portfolio.. what’s the best way to go about this? I would like to show screenshots of the various websites I’ve worked on in my company… do you think screenshots are enough? I can only link to the login page if I want to show something live as you need a username/password to login to our app and I can’t give any username / password info away. What do you recommend in this case? Is it illegal if I go to a certain page in the app, save it on my server and link to the static page? Also, what are the best sites to get a domain name from? Thank you!
