Hi – we have e-commerce retail sites that – they have search boxes but they really don’t work well. They used a program called Xircon, now it’s Universe..? for inputting products, descriptions etc. that are dynamically inserted via .asp.net.
My question is: they are researching all kinds of very expensive search co. solutions — is it better to outsource this internal site search solution or is there a way I can make the search work better??
I don’t have any input in this xircon program at this time — but is there a solution where keywords should be able to be added for each product, that a consumer may look for? And wouldn’t key words in the descriptions help with the search function? Where else might I be able to make this search function really work perfectly? Our customers tend toward being mature aged – and I feel that an internal site search that finds them exactly what they are looking for, no matter how they put it, first time is very important for our business.
