thumbnail resizing

Hi.

i have to design a gallery and the images will be automatically resizes from 450px width to a squared thumbnail of 100x100px. now the problem is, the image height for the pict images changes(with a fixed width of 450px) and the quality of the thumbnail is pretty bad.

is there a way around this? maybe using some Javascript?

@toicontienOct 01.2008 — You should be linking to the original images some how. I take it the 100 wide images are used as thumbnails, and when you click on the thumbnails it shows the full sized image?
