AJAX get HTTP response status code

Hey all, i’m trying to get HTTP response code for AJAX PHP request. The ajax itself works fine but the request.status doesnt return anything for some reason. Maybe some one would be able to help me out here.

Well, technically what I wanna do is find out if the server is avalible if not (any HTTP code other then 200 (where 200 == Server avalible, packets sent successfuly)).

I’m quite sure that should be duable in javascritp as IE browser has the .status function build in… I guess i’m just declaring it in wrond way or somethng.

Please help me 😉 I’m not too good in javascript especially when it comes to debugin.
