Text cursor everywhere.

I am building a small website for someone and I’ve just noticed that when I view the pages in IE, the text cursor is showing up unwantedly everywhere.

(Over empty space mainly… the only places I see the regular pointer cursor are over images / background images.)

Does anyone know why this is / how to fix it?

@sgraphicsauthorAug 17.2008 — Note: I know you can just set the body / id tags in CSS as 'cursor: default', but this attribute doesn't do exactly what I want it to. It applies it to the whole page and doesn't fix the problem I am getting where if a DIV has text somewhere inside it, then you get the text cursor all over that DIV and not just over the text...

I still want the text-cursor to appear over where there is actually text - just no place else.

Turns out it is an IE7 bug where a haslayout trigger on a DIV messes up the cursor inside... I've tried and I can't remove the culprits from my CSS without messing the design up, so I'll just leave it as it is.

If anyone else wants to have a go at trying to fix it then I'll post the page code on request.

I don't know whether it is still relevant for you but try giving the div which triggers hasLayout a background (any value but transparent).
