PHP mail() via proxy

Hello,

I have a problem with mail() function, actually with hosting.
I need to connect to my remote smtp but my hosting is running all outband connection thru proxy server. Do anyone has idea how to bypass this problem ??

Thanks for help

P.S.
I am using Zend Mail as well – if someone has experience with proxy on this framework.
