Char Code replace script

Has anyone ever seen a script or function (written cleanly) which is like the attached javascript.

I would say that all the [I]thisString = thisString.replace....[/I] lines could be replaced with this single line:


thisString = thisString.replace(/[^nr]/g, function(a){ return "&#" + a.charCodeAt(0) + ';' });
