i am trying to access the href of a link within an iframe from the parent document. i am doing this:
function openAd() {
alert(window.framename.document.getElementsByTagName(‘a’)[0].href);

}
firefox gives this:

@slaughtersJul 30.2008 — If the src of the iframe does not exist on the same server as your script then you are prevented from accessing it's contents.

If you need access to a page that resides on a different server then you'll need to do something called "page scraping", a pretty non-trivial thing to do that requires server side scripting not client side.
