Gaps in Tables Please Help

If anyone can please help, my site… www.dotswoof.com/home.html is showing some glitches in firefox and internet explorer 7. If anyone can help me, I’ve looked for the glitches non stop but I can’t find them…

The glitch is visible on the site, if you look at the drop shadows surrounding the boxes, they never go to the end. Even though they are sized correctly. No matter what I resize or what I remove, these gaps are always there. If anyone could please help I’d be very grateful.

@WebJoelJul 08.2008 — Helping you would be easier if instead of always starting 'a new thread' you merely *bump* the thread you already have started. That way, what you have done and what solutions have been offered, tried, and their success or failure become part of the linear record. This thread, a new start, does not reveal what has been done or tried to date. :o

To 'bump' a thread, you can 'post a reply' and merely post "bump", meaning 'I am still working on and waiting for help with this' ? This sends your thread back to the top of the first page...

What makes this a bit difficult is that it is using TABLEs, -a convention that is over 10+ years out-of-favor. This is like generation-4 layout in a browser-ver.7 or 8 world.. Even still, it can be solved. ?

@LampArtProauthorJul 08.2008 — The thing is the problem has changed dramatically for each thread I've posted. So far, I've received a solution every time. This final problem seems to be one no one wants to touch.

We used the old table system simply because none of us know html, and we don't have the money to pay for what we want. So to get it we had figure out all we could. This is the first site I've ever done you see.

But still, this problem is driving me crazy. I've checked the code, if I make any measurements bigger or smaller it does nothing to fix these "gaps" which seemingly are coming from nothing. I've looked into my original photoshop slices and found no overlapping slices, all I have been able to notice is that going into the slices where there are gaps and applying a "valign top" will close any gap on the top, however it also doubles the size of the gap on the bottom.

@FangJul 08.2008 — Try this:* {margin:0;padding:0;border:0;}
img {display:block;}
table {border-collapse:collapse;}

@LampArtProauthorJul 08.2008 — Thank you all so much but I just figure it out.

Apparently there were some areas of my tables with spaces in them like

"> <"

I went on a hunch and did a find and replace, replacing all "> <" with "><"

It bunched up all the code making it harder to read, but at least the site works.

@LampArtProauthorJul 10.2008 — Wait!!

Nevermind!

BUMP BUMP BUMP!!!

Someone please tell me why this is happening. I started remaking my site trying to fix the problem and this came up and I have no idea why. If you view this page in IE7 or older, its all distorted but not in Firefox.

@FangJul 11.2008 — Both browser show an empty content area.

Use the correct DTD, not the one for frames

Hahahaha! ?

-Did you get this figured out? I've been away for the weekend and don't know where this is at. I must be not looking at the correct places, but I have yet to actually notice anything wrong with the drop-shadow not going all the way to the very end.. ?

Success!
