Kevin Roth RTE question

I’m doing some customisation work on Kevin’s excellent RTE. However I’m having an issue with image URL’s being re-written. I’ve written a pop-up which allows users to select images to insert into their content from a ‘resources’ directory. The code works great except that either Kevin’s RTE or the web browser itself is rewriting the img URL’s to make them relative rather than absolute. Even more bizarrely the alt tag I’m including with the image is being emptied!
