Export page screen shot

Hi Everyone.

I have an interesting problem which I am hoping JavaScript can be used to solve, but I am not an expert in the language.

I would like to ‘export’ a page to an image. In other words, if I were to open a webpage, take a screen shot of the the page, and save it, it would give me the same functionality.

To give some context, I have a Wiki which is often edited by users. Those same users have a need to ‘save’ the current view for other uses as an image, and then resize it. I would like to provide a utility which they can ‘export screen shot’ which will automatically generate a 1024×768 (or whatever) jpeg image for their use.

Is it possible to do this using JavaScript? If so, any ideas how I might start?

Thanks!
