I’ve heard mixed reviews about template monster’s services and was wondering if anyone has used their css-based templates. I’ve downloaded a couple and they display well in all browsers. While there are more classes than I’d prefer it seems to be a viable option when you look at speeding up development time.

I’d appreciate feedback from folks who’ve used their service.

@WebJoelMay 27.2008 — Until you're familiar with writing your own, there is noting wrong with using a pre-fab template. And you'll get to know what does exactly what by experimentation.

A good place to get free, never-seen-before programatically-generated templates is strangebanana.com.

Most of these look like junk but every so often you can get a decent, mildly unrepulsive one that can be alot of fun to tweak and make you own. ?

@bluestartechMay 27.2008 — i have found in the past that template monster can have messy pages and its only ever 70% of what u need. then theres the side that one could spend as long customising a template as it would to create one from scratch. however the template sites can be a good starting point to stir the creative juices in the quest to be inspired...
