Problem with my website

Hi All,

I do hope I’m in the right place for the help I’m seeking, apologies if I’m not!

I have had a website built selling interior blinds and am very happy with the overall outcome but there is one massive problem I’m having that I can’t find a solution for. On the order page, customers have to fill in their requirements information, in one box they have to type in their exact measurements and in another box, a drop down box, they have to select a range that their measurements fall in to, ie: between 2 & 3 ft etc, this determines the price the customer is charged. It all worked in theory but when I received my first two orders both customers had selected a lower size range in the drop down box to the actual measurements they had placed in the next box, this then charged the customer less than it should have done, which I honoured but can’t afford for this to keep happening. Not knowing much at all about programming and stuff I’m not sure if this is possible but I’m wondering if there is a script that can be written that would put up a flag to the customer that the measurement they input and the range they select are not matching and won’t let them proceed without rectifying the mistake? I hope this makes sense! ? I haven’t put the url of my site in this post as I don’t want to be seen as spamming but will provide it if needed. I do hope someone can advise me and will be most grateful for any help or advice.

Thank you for reading,

Mouse.

@ZeroKilledMay 09.2008 — this is better handled on server side. i recommend you to ask a moderator or administrator to move this thread according to the server side language you use on your site. don't relay on javascript because javascript is client side, meaning that you can't have total control. however, what you can do with javascript is to validate the order JUST to guide the customer that he/she has made an invalid order. but this is not a real solution because javascript can be disabled and skip that validation. so, the real solution lay on server side because customer can't have control over the server.

@mousymousyauthorMay 09.2008 — I know this is going to sound really pathetic but how do I determine the server side language used on my site? :o In the control panel I can see PHPMyadmin and SQL, is it to do with either of them? Also how do I contact a moderator? Sorry for being so clueless!

@ZeroKilledMay 09.2008 — your server use PHP language with SQL database. not sure what is PHPMyadmin, guess is an interface that allow you to manage your site. moderators/administrator are user that have their name in bold. on the home forums page, at the bottom of the page, is listed moderator of javascript. click on one of them and send him/her a private message along url of this thread.
