accent character don’t appear in IE7 with AJAX

Hi Everybody

i am using AJAX

i am calling a servlet which return XML

then i parse it , i get the servlet reponse in the call back function using oXML.responseText

when this data have french characters , Firefox can read it correctly, while IE7 can’t read it

, in IE7 the accent characters comes as boxes and ctrl characters

please advice as all my users are IE7 users ?

do i need to set the encding and/ or character set , do i need it in both servlet and

my html , or in the ajax setHeader function?

any sample code please?
