PHP web site needs font viewer

I have built a site using joomla and need some sort of module or component to do the following:

I need a page with a pulldown menu of various fonts. When you enter text into this box, and select one of the available fonts from the menu, it will create the text in that font.

Anyone have any ideas? Is this something I can do in PHP or is it more like javascript?

Ideas please.

Create a directory on your server and copy the fonts in there.

Create a php script which will create an image with that font.
