are there way to invoke client side js code from server using "Push" approach?

Hi, I wrote myself a simple widget that has a timer, on each cycle, it’ll grab information from the server and display on the web page.

you can see that, as the number of client increase, this kind of “pull” technique would also increase stress at the server level. Cause everyone is asking the same information from the server.

I’m thinking to have the server “publish” the information to all the clients that is “subscribed” to the service. Can that be done in js? How can I invoke js function remotely?

Thank you.

@toicontienApr 18.2008 — You cannot do this. Client computers can only make requests to servers, not the other way around. You might, however, be able to create a Flash object or Java applet with this sort of functionality.
