CSS layout problem in IE depending on container length

So i have a container which has a header, sidebar, content area, and footer. Depending on the length of the content in the content area the spacing between the sidebar and content area disappears or changes to 20px. This can only be seen on IE, firefox renders correctly.

[url]http://www.studentsherpas.com/contact.php[/url] should be short enough to cause the problem depending on browswer width.

if you go to:
[url]http://www.studentsherpas.com/example2.php[/url] and play with the width of the page the spacing should change.

Im not sure how to fix this and have tried a bunch of different fixes. Thoughts? Comments? Concerns?

The page also has a variable width, but im thinking of changing this. I’m not sure if this would cause the problem
