php and index files getting injected by a hack code

I am using Joomla & Zen Carts on my web sites.
These need some folders to have 777 permissions. For the past few days a tag starting with iframe is getting injected to index.html, index.php, login.php files. The tag has links to some other web sites which are selling all that medicines.

How do I prevent my files from getting infected by this. Sometimes index.html files which contain only these tags are getting created.

@deedritApr 16.2008 — I think it has to do with "Register Globals" you probably want to turn this off.

The PHP community recommends that if you don't need it, turn it off. Here is a link to reference that. http://php.net/register_globals
