Detecting which letter in text is clicked

I know you can detect the mouse position with javascript, and which element is clicked.

But is it possible to detect the letter (the position within a paragraph of text) that someone clicked on?

@mrhooMar 06.2008 — Only if each letter is in its own text-node (firefox) or inline-element (IE).

You can detect [B]selections[/B] in any browser, or use element offsets and cursor x,y to [B]approximate [/B]where in the parent element the click came from.
