Database query error

Please help!!! I’ve got this error:

You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘WHERE page=’index” at line 1″

The source code of this page contains:
$page=’index’;
$query = sprintf(“SELECT title, meta_d, meta_k, text FROM $tablePages WHERE page=’%s'”, mysql_real_escape_string($page));
$result = mysql_query($query,$db);

I see the problem is in the quotes near ‘index’, but i don’t know how to solve this problem. If anyone knows, please let me know how.
