My website www.brianwhipp.com takes way too long to load. I called www.godaddy.com and they took a look and said that when you go to my home page, it downloads all the files in my main directory for some reason. Other than letting me know that they were really no help. Does anyone know why this is happening? I don’t have this problem with my other site. Is there some way I could code this to stop happening? Has anyone seen this problem before? Is this my fault or is it godaddy’s?
If anyone could help I would be eternally grateful.
@webjellyauthorMar 01.2008 — #but my webhost told me that the site was downloading EVERYTHING in the main directory when it loads. And theres alot more than a 5mb swf in there.
@tracknutMar 01.2008 — #I don't see anything on that page that would "load everything" out of the directory. I suspect there was a disconnect between you and the support guy on that one.
@skywalker2208Mar 01.2008 — #It is the swf file that is causing the page to take a while to load. I would hate to be a person on dial up viewing your site. Your site took 25.88 seconds to load for me and your swf file was 25.79 of that.
@webjellyauthorMar 03.2008 — #yo you guys were totally right. It was just the swfs being too large. I dont think i realized that that was so much of an issue.
Thanks, the website loads alot faster now that i have optimized alot of stuff.
@skywalker2208Mar 03.2008 — #a little over 3 seconds now for your swf file. That is a lot better. Try downloading firebug for firefox and it will tell you how long each item takes to download.
