Hey guys, I am interested in knowing, what new Web Development projects you are doing, curious to know, what data base you use, and if you are using Linux or Windows platform. Also, will like to know, if there are any alternatives to Adobe products, that you may be using

Custom written database. Might use Postgresql later.

FreeBSD throughout.

The Gimp instead of Photoshop. Inkscape instead of Illustrator. I have PS and Illustrator but rarely use them.

@AscendancyFeb 21.2008 — Right now I'm working on a small gaming social network. I'm using MySQL with PHP, working on a windows platform (my server is Linux though).

As for the Adobe products, there are plenty of options. Microsoft actually recently released a whole set of software for web design / development (I forget the name). But in my opinion, Adobe's software is the best.

Use adobe software, including the ones they got from macromedia.

@Stephen_PhilbinFeb 21.2008 — Just working on my own site at the moment. It's in PHP5 and MySQL through Apache on a Linux distro, but I'm strongly considering chucking the PHP in favour of Java. I'm unaware of which Adobe products are supposedly used by most developers and what they do or what they're called, but I do use the Gimp for images.
