help point me in the right direction

Hi all,

I am trying to learn how to make certain website functionality, and I think the best way is through javascript. Here are the things I’d like to do:

  • have an image fade out to another image (several images)

  • streaming video

  • mouse overs
  • An example of what I’m looking to learn can be found at http://www.shanghaitang.com/shanghaitang/. Notice the corners of the rectangle – how would something like this be done?

You can see through the cracks of their mouseovers and the whole thing is clickable. Do you think it’s all done in javascript?

Any help to point me in the right direction to learn how to program these types of things will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

@cgishackJan 23.2008 — What you see is actually flash.

you could do it all is JS but it would be more work than flash.

If you are looking at learning javascript, make sure you understand HTML first.
