Internet explorer modifies empty "src" of img

I have images in my html page.”src” of these images is generated dynamically.Sometimes “src” is just empty.

When “src” is empty,Internet explorer modifies the src of the image to point to the directory in which the html page is coming from.As I have ACL setup,it will throw a webserver login prompt whenever a request comes to view contents of a directory.Hence I end up with a webserver login page whenever src of image is empty.

Can someone please help me out in finding out what can be the solution for this as I cannot modify the ACL.What can I do so that internet explorer does not modify the “src”.

@gil_davisJan 17.2008 — If your generator returns empty, don't include the <IMG> tag in the html. Either that, or return a valid image source - "blank.gif" or something.
