[RESOLVED] Characters with accents in Firefox and Internet Explorer

I have a problem specifically with the Welsh name Sian. The ‘a’ has an accent above it which in French would be described as a circumflex.

I can put this into HTML and using browsers on the local file the name appears correctly.

On the internet

Internet Explorer reads it correctly but it is shown as Si?n in Firefox. Yet Firefox displays the name correctly on other wesites (eg the website of Sian Phillips, the Welsh actress) although there appears to be no special coding in the source code.

Anyone got any suggestions on why my website is not dispalying the name correctly?

I've changed the character set to iso-8859-1

I am not sure why it previously worked with the local file, but this is what it said in the link you provided too.
