Capture email, get Paypal donation, then download page

Can this be done? If it’s not a PHP thing, tell me what it would be.

Ideally, I would like this…

  • 1. customer clicks on “download song here” link.

  • 2. customer fills out simple email form to capture, at minimum, his email addy.

  • 3. customer fills out paypal screen for whatever he wants to donate, perhaps with a 99 cent minimum. (Some people may be willing to give more in my particular instance due to the nature of the song.)

  • 4. after paypal, customer is then allowed to download the song.

Ideally... hopefully, you understand... the form is all they see until they provide AT LEAST an email address. Once that's done, it goes to a form to pay Paypal and they must pay at least 99 cents or 1 dollar if that is a problem. They could also pay more. But at least the minimum. Once done, THEN they get the download link.

@TheRaveJan 04.2008 — You will need to look at the PayPal merchant tools. PayPal have a lot of good examples including php.

You need to look at PayPal's Payment Data Transfer(PDT) and Instant Payment Notification(IPN) so your site can detect/be informed when the payment has been made. That way you can only offer the download when the payment has been made.

Just as a side question: These songs that you're selling, are they your own songs?

Yes. I own 100% of the copyright, written totally by me.
