[RESOLVED] Communication between FRAME and FRAME with IFRAME

Hi!

I seems to have a problem with my homepage that I’m building. I have a frameset and I want to communicate between two frames, but one of the frames also contain a IFRAME and it´s that frame and a script that I try to reach with parent.tnt.CamCon() from one frame. tnt is the name of the IFRAME.

The error messages is parent.tnt is null

This has never before been a problem between ordinary frames. So what seems to be the problem?

@pkngauthorDec 21.2007 — Thanks but I can't get it to run! It's still null! ?

Let me try to explain it again. The frameset contains five frames plus one iframe.

From one of the frame, named kontroll, I call a function with parent.display.FrameCom() to another frame, named display. And from that frame another function shall call a function in an iframe that is created from an html document in frame display. The function that calls the function inte the iframe is placed in the same html file that creates the iframe.

frame:kontroll -----> frame:display ======> iframe:tnt

Hope this could be solved! Thanks! ?

  • 1. In which frame is CamCon()?

  • 2. Which frame is calling the function?

  • 3. In which frame is the iframe?

    What could be wrong?

    Thanks! ?

    @pkngauthorJan 03.2008 — Hi!

    I have made a simple image of my framset with frame names and how I want to communicate. Please have a look! It might help understand how I mean. I just want to activate a script from frame Bottom in iframe Model.

    I discovered the following: When I right click the mouse and view the source code in the iframe it's OK before I press the button that call the script in iframe. But then the second time if i rightclick the iframe the source code is gone! It's totally empty! So the file that is loaded in the first time the frameset is activated by the index.html file dissapears! How strange! How could this be solved?

    Thanks!
