Bizarre Google results

Hey guys, bit of a weird one….

I regularly do Google searches for my site to check its ranking… usually I’m on the fourth page, but just now I noticed I’m at number two.

http://www.google.com/search?q=laura+rees&hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&start=10&sa=N

Mesmerising | Laura Rees is there.

However, this is not my site – well, it is but it’s hosted by tc2tc.mojolingo.xuite.net/ and I can’t find my site’s real homepage in any search. My actual site address should be http://laurarees.roundthebend.org/.

Just wondering what on earth is going on and whether I should be worried… if this makes any sense! ?

@CentauriNov 11.2007 — Interesting - it seems to have indexed the hosting server address of your page - maybe you could resubmit your url to Google.

However, even more interesting is the only entry that does contain your url is the gallery page - and a look at the code on your site reveals why. The gallery page is the only page pointed to by a normal link - all other pages are accessed by the image map menu, which search engine spiders will not navigate. Good reason not to use image maps for a main navigation.

Also, on another note, I noticed the doctype on your page appears halfway down the code - it should be the first thing in the code.

@twiggystardustauthorNov 11.2007 — Damn... I didn't know that. Thank you!

The only thing is that I've never heard of tc2tc.mojolingo.xuite.net/ - my site is hosted by Site Ground. It seems to be translating my page...

@CentauriNov 11.2007 — Looks like mojolingo is a translation site, and your page is in their cache maybe due to someone requesting a translation. As Google's rating system is very much influenced by the number of external links a site has pointing to it, the mojolingo page probably comes up so near the top simply due to the popularity and links to that site.

@twiggystardustauthorNov 12.2007 — Just came across this - very interesting...

Scroll down to the 'Taiwanese Proxy Spam / Hijacking' entry. That proxy pattern looks very similar to the one that is currently 'hosting' my site - and the same IP address (203.66.143.125) appeared in my unknown bots list.

Blocked! Hope that will be enough...!
