[RESOLVED] is_file() without extension

I have a unique problem… I need to search a directory for a file, i have everything before the extension, but i dont have the extension. Right now I am doing long string of
is_file(“filename.jpg”);
is_file(“filename.gif”);
is_file(“filename.png”);
is_file(“filename.txt”);
is_file(“filename.swf”);
is_file(“filename.wmf”);
is_file(“filename.avi”);
I know there has to be a way to simplify it, but I cant for the life of me see how to do it… any ideas? suggestions

Thanks in advance
Kender
