developing question

I’m looking to develop a site similar in functionality to askmen(dot)com

featured articles, sections, personalized author pages, calendar of events, etc

has anyone done anything like this or can point me in the right direction in terms of any articles, lessons, tutorials on doing something similar to this?

@TJ111Oct 26.2007 — Writing your own is definitely doable, but if your starting off with PHP this is probably a bad approach. Look for a good [url=opensourcecms.org]CMS[/url] (content management system) that fits your needs, then adjust it appropriately.

Taking on an overwhelming task to learn a programming language, or programming in general, will probably just turn you off from the whole idea altogether.
