Finding if a BHO is installed

We have a BHO (browser helper object) that when the browser sees “wgccdrom://” it knows to open up our chat client.

What I need to do is determine if the BHO is installed. If it is NOT installed, I need to redirect to the download page. If it is installed, continue with opening up the chat client.

The problem is that when it is not installed, and you try to run it, you get a web page not found.

I have attempted this:

<script type=”text/javascript”>
function isBHO() {

if (typeof(window.opener)!=”undefined”){
window.location=’wgccdrom://’
}
else
{
window.location=’http://www.mysite.com/cd_download.php/
}
}
</script>

First off, I get Syntax errors.. secondly, it doesn’t work.

Please help?
