Load different items

Hi, I want to load different set of items including some buttons and fields each time the user clicks on different buttons on the same page. For an exam if the user clicks on add new item button the fields, some blank text boxes should appear which is not current on the web page. I have seen somebody’s done it using something called formfields, but I don’t know how it works. Does anybody know how this can be done?
