Difference betn inbuilt DM and third party

Friends,
What is the basic difference between, the inbuilt download facility of a web-browser and various third party integrations.

Situation is, rapidshare download(free) works with only the inbuilt DM(download manager) but why not with other third party install like FDM, Flashget etc. Why the vendors have not succeeded in creating a tight integration with the browser?

Why, why, why?

That was my guess too, because http being stateless employs this tactic only.

But why not there is a DM, that is injected so deep into the FF or IE browser that instead of FF or IE download manager the 3rd party DM is considered first.

Actually how do rapidshare etc determine, whether we are using the browser or 3rd party DM to download their file?

Is this some kind some intended crippling feature of the browsers, just like Adobe's own PDF products? Adobe's own PDF products are less feature rich as far as decryption etc of pdf files are concerned.

Is there anybody working at rapidshare here ? ready to answer our query.
