DreamWeaver MX and coding

If anyone can answer this..I’d be greatful.

I am looking into getting DreamWeaver MX however I also wish to use standard compliant coding too.

So I would like to know if anyone knows what manner of coding MX uses..is it HTML 4.0..4.01 or do they still insist on using a proprietary code. I tried finding out on the Macromedia site but that proved to be a useless endeavor.

Yes..I could hand code and I am trying it myself but I do not wish to rely on that all the time either.

@AdamBrillAug 28.2003 — I have never seen a WYSIWYG editor that uses CSS for layout, so either way it wouldn't be to standards. As far as the other stuff, I think DW is the best of the bunch....

@Aronya1Aug 28.2003 — I've been using MX for several months now. By default, it uses HTML 4.01 transitional code.

To be honest, I haven't paid much attention to whether or not any of the code it writes is proprietary, but it's never caught my attention, either. Nor have any validators pointed to anything peculiar, on the admittedly rare occasions I've used them.

So, if that's enough caveats for you, I'd say go for it.
